75cl bottle. Reliable producer of excellent Burgundy. Domaine Michel Juillot is one of the leading estates in Mercurey. Laurent Juillot is the fourth generation to run the domaine and he has inherited his father Michel’s attention to detail and focus on quality. The domaine produces a varied range of wines, from village Bourgogne up to the Grand Crus of Corton Perrières and Corton-Charlemagne. Laurent puts just as much effort into the vineyard management and winemaking for his entry level wines as he does for his Grand Crus; this is reflected in the quality across all price levels. All of his wines show typicity of terroir, elegance and class. This Mercurey from the (lockdown) 2020 vintage like many from this particular year are now being discovered to be incredibly interesting as holding extra qualities/depth to them, due not only a good vintage but to the fact there were no cars, no planes, no pollution and no travel. Burgundies winemakers stayed home and tended their vines with even more care than usual. A fragrant nose envelops the glass and leaks out strawberry and raspberry aromas with some good earthy tones. The palate has again strawberry but also a dose of cherry which brings with it a shiver of delightful acidity, some more notes of savoury mushroom and wood keep this wine well balanced.
