75cl bottle. Organic Château du Hureau is the best producer in Saumur-Champigny and produces award-winning wines. The Tuffe cuvee, so-called because of the “tuffeau” limestone rock on which the Cabernet Franc grapes grow. The grapes are sorted, macerated for 25-35 days and aged for 12-24 months. The wine is soft, rich and voluptuous. It is polished, perfumed with black cherry and cassis aromas. On the palate it is fresh and supple with a nice mouthfeel. A superb Cabernet Franc. We have been privileged to visit this fine Chateau on 3 occasions, and stay at the lovely Petit Hureau next door, who are also carved into the impressive tufa rock hills. Owner Philipe invited us into the cellars to be involved in the tasting of the blends for the excellent 2015 vintage.
