A structured and expressive Rioja Crianza that balances ripe fruit with savoury complexity and subtle oak influence. CVNE Asúa Crianza offers a modern yet classical interpretation of Rioja, combining dark berry fruit with gentle spice and refined tannins. The wine feels composed and well-proportioned, delivering depth and warmth while maintaining freshness and drinkability. It opens with generous fruit before developing notes of cedar and dried herbs, leading to a long, balanced finish. Polished and versatile, it is a Rioja that works particularly well at the table. Producer – CVNE CVNE (Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España) is one of Rioja’s most historic wineries, founded in 1879 and still family-owned today. The estate has built a reputation for producing wines that combine traditional Rioja character with modern precision. The Asúa range is named after the winery’s founders and represents a slightly more contemporary expression of Rioja, emphasising balance and fruit purity while retaining the structure and ageing potential associated with the region. Terroir & Winemaking Fruit is sourced primarily from Rioja Alta vineyards, where moderate temperatures and limestone-rich soils encourage balanced ripening and natural freshness. Warm sunny days allow Tempranillo to develop ripe fruit flavours while cool evenings preserve acidity and aromatic definition. Grapes are harvested at optimal maturity and fermented in stainless steel with controlled temperatures. The wine is aged in oak barrels for approximately twelve months, adding subtle notes of vanilla, spice and cedar while softening the tannins and building structure. Further bottle ageing allows the components to integrate and develop complexity. Tasting Notes Deep ruby with garnet highlights. Aromas of black cherry, plum and blackberry are layered with notes of vanilla, cedar and dried herbs. The palate is medium to full-bodied, showing ripe dark fruit supported by smooth tannins and balanced acidity. Gentle oak spice carries through to a long and savoury finish. Food pairing suggestion: Roast pork with herbs and garlic. *Vintages are for illustration purposes only
