75cl bottle. Vegan. The Cabernet Shiraz is one of the best value wines in South Africa and is made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. A rich and fruity wine with peppery notes. Although entry level, this is often entered into wine competitions and brings home winning medals. In much the same way that many Bordeaux chateaux have their “second” wines this is Hartenberg’s. While specific vineyard parcels are dedicated to the blend to ensure consistency of character, some grapes which haven’t quite cracked the nod for their Super Premium wines (due to the critical selection philosophy), happily find their way into this blend. Elegant and complex on the nose with notes of ripe red berries and hints of fynbos. A savoury touch is added by notes of black pepper. The red berry character follows through on the palate with beckoning raspberry and cherry flavours as well as a touch of savoury spice. Fine, dry tannins allow for a lean, lingering finish.
