Pierre Taittinger, a young lieutenant from Paris, was given the position of chief of staff based at the Château de la Marquetterie, in the Champagne vineyards. The château sparked a love affair with Pierre Taittinger. With his knowledge and insight in this field, he created the Champagne House’s wine style. Today a team of energetic young professionals, who possess a variety of complementary skills, work closely to protect Taittinger’s history and serve as the company’s guardians for quality, reputation, and the future. The vintages of Taittinger Comtes de Champagne represent the essence of the House. Some vintages become classics and join the legendary stature of the best Champagnes. The Champagne continental climate was perfectly captured in the 2009 vintage. The development of the vines followed a traditional pattern, with grapes in superb condition and at their ideal ripeness, thanks to a very cold, dry winter that was followed by a beautifully sunny summer and almost no rainfall in the last months. This vintage offers an accomplished and bright Comtes de Champagne Rosé. Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Rosé is the rarest cuvee. Made from 30% Chardonnay Grands Crus Côte des Blancs and 70% Pinot Noir Grands Crus of Montagne de Reims. 12% of red wine from Bouzy Pinots is also added to the blend. The resulting Champagne is smooth and fruity, with chalky acidity, balanced with silky bubbles, achieved by 12 years of ageing in the UNESCO-protected cellars. Flavours of ornge blossom, orange peel, dried strawberries and candied citrus fruit. It’s full-bodied, with great acid structure and rich palate.
