El Puntido 2018 Rioja wine DOC Rioja is100% Tempranillo variety, grown from 30 year old vines. The El Puntido is produced from the vineyard planted around the winery that names the wine, a large 25-hectare plot. This adds to the floral character of the wine, producing a perfume that is easily identifiable as this terroir. The soil has a franc-clay texture and calcareous-clay composition with a deep sandy, rocky sub-soil. The high altitude of the region is capitalised on with environmental integrated agriculture cultivation. The grapes are de-stemmed and undergo malolactic fermentation before being aged for 16 months in new Bordelaise barrels of French oak. The result is a powerful palate that balances the flavours of the wood with ripe fruits. Meanwhile, the nose is subtle with minerals, liquor and chocolate with a background of white flowers. Recommended drinking temperature: 16-18ºC
